The vector engineering group led by Dr. Ben Deverman at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute is a technology development laboratory focused on engineering gene delivery vehicles to address specific needs of the neuroscience community.
Viral vectors have proven incredibly useful for studying the diversity of cell types and connectivity within the nervous system. The team applies high-throughput selection and screening to engineer recombinant viruses that enable more efficient and selective gene transfer to defined cell types in the CNS. The ultimate goal of these efforts is to develop treatments for psychiatric disorders by supporting hypothesis testing in a variety of model systems.
We are located on the 9th floor of the Broad Institute (75 Ames).
